THE INTERNATIONAL STATUTE OF TRANSPARENCY

"On this day, the thirteenth of June of the year two thousand and thirty four, in the spirit of honesty, safety and the equality of all mankind, the magical population and the non-magical population will no longer remain hidden from one another, but will be unified as one. Rather than withholding from one another, we today take a step toward a better future, as the union of two such extraordinary cultures and resources promises a betterment in quality of life for all. This statute applies to every living being that is capable of thinking and reasoning for itself. Either Discrimination or Deceptiveness in respect to the statute are both considered the highest form of noncompliance in all countries involved, and are punishable as treason. Every world leader, both magical and non-magical, have signed this statute in agreement that Transparency between the respective communities of the world is the best path toward knowledge and peace."

Shane walked out of the underground entrance of the Hufflepuff common room and made his way up to the great hall and out into the grounds. Tonight was New years and everyone was out and about having an amazing time and even though he had found that he was alone a lot recently he wasn’t going to just stay locked up in his common room. It was too easy to just to sleep the night away and hide from the world for someone such as he. Hell, it only been two days ago that the full moon had graced the skies with its presence, yet he didn’t seem to care really. He wanted to have fun and see more of the world around him. Meeting new people would be good for him he had decided. Hell he had already met Gwen and a couple others and it had turned out alright.

After a bit Shane found himself pulling his black leather jacket closer to him as he moved through the crowds of people heading down into grounds. He hadn’t really done much to stand out tonight, dawning his black leathers over a sleeveless black shirt and a pair of black jeans with a chain dangling off them. Most would say he looked like a rebellious slytherin out for a fight, but he really didn’t care. The night was cool but not enough for him to warrant any kind of sleeves and the cool of the leather against his skin felt pretty night if he did say so himself. Again, it really didn’t matter in the end. If anyone noticed him then maybe they would talk to him, but tonight was just about enjoying himself....or that’s what he had thought…

“OY! You!” Shane caught the sound of the voices before he saw who was behind him. You would think that a werewolf like him would have caught the scent and reacted quicker, maybe dodged the balled up fist that ended up crashing hard into the side of his face? But nope, it wasn’t in the cards that night for him to be good at what he was. Instead he found himself sprawled out on the ground with shouts and some cries of confusion around him.

He could feel his head swimming as he tried to quickly right himself and look at whoever had hit him. That however seemed to be difficult at first with lights popping in front of his eyes and disorientation kicking in at full force. “What the hell was that about?” He tried to look like it hadn’t fazed him at all, yet he knew he wasn’t fooling really anyone, let alone himself or the one who had attacked him. “Think you can punch out my mate when he was fighting that muggle do ya?” This time, though Shane was still struggling to get his bearings back he actually heard the movement and as it came and dodged quickly. He had beaten up some kid who had fought a muggle? Wait was this about Casey? That kid he had ended up talking for awhile with? These idiots were after him because of some stupid fight he had broken up? Shane shook his head one last time and looked straight at the guy he had dodged who was trying to right himself for another attack. He was dressed in casual clothes but was built like a troll. Thick arms thick chest and neck and the face of someone who had smacked into a brick wall one to many times.

“Maybe your dude shouldn’t be attacking random kids in the hallways. It might do him some good to get his ass kicked if he thinks he bad enough to attack others when they are trying to get to class.”
Shane waited for the next attack with a look a coolness. What this idiot didn’t see was how his muscles were tense he was ready to spring like a wild animal on this idiot at the slightest moment. He just had to wait for him to get in close…

Gwen is a muggle, and was brought up on a farm. She was homeschooled, but she did have friends in a nearby village. Mostly, though, she spent her time playing with her brothers, Jack and Hunter, and her younger sister Grace. Then Jack was killed. And shit happened. And she applied for Hogwarts when the statute was passed, having heard so much about Hogwarts from her brother.

@Shane Rogers. 900. I DIDN'T MEAN FOR IT TO BE SO LONG!
i saw the light fade from the

New Year's celebrations. Now, this was something Gwen hadn't always loved. Not because she didn't like fireworks, or the start of a new year. She guessed there was just something about the way it was celebrated away from the farm she grew up on. They didn't have too many fireworks, because the horses would get very jumpy, and Gwen supposed her affinity for them was kinda the thing that made her not so interested. But this was Hogwarts! And they were one hour ahead of Netherland, so even if she did feel bad, it wouldn't be bad for the horses until 1 o'clock here! So she pulled on a pair of black trousers and a white blouse, and grabbed her jacket before she left the girls' dormitory.

She just reached the Hufflepuff common room as she spotted Shane leaving it. She was about to rush after him; she had a lot of questions she wanted to ask him. And she couldn't really say she didn't enjoy letting her eyes drift in his direction during breakfast or dinner, or even sometimes in the common room. She only wished she was braver, that she could just walk up to him and talk to him. But she wasn't, so she stopped and slowed her pace. It wasn't that she was too nervous to talk to him, she was pretty sure that if he said something to her, the conversations would flow swiftly on her behalf, but she also found herself a bit too intrigued by him.

And after Christmas, she found that she might even be a bit scared of him; she'd asked Hunter about the Shrieking Shack. She'd even talked to Ariel. She hadn't mentioned Shane on either account, but she'd asked about the history of the house, and the subject of ghosts and werewolves had come up. She didn't know if he was one, she rather doubted it, but she kinda also knew that it was something, and she'd be studying the moon cycles from now on. She couldn't remember either the date or the week that she'd met him that morning, but if he did vanish again on a full moon, she was sure she would find her answer. She'd found it absolutely ridiculous though, when she researched the subject.

Gwen looked around and found herself in the hallways of the dungeons. She hadn't even realised she'd left the common room. She wondered if she should stop, see if anyone would come with her, like Marcus or Braden, or even Fiona, though Gwen hadn't seen her in the dormitory. In the end, she kept going, and turned a corner just as Shane once again walked out of her sight. Gwen thoughtfully bit down on her lip and then let out a breath. Fine, tonight was the night not to be politely shy. This would mark the end of an old year and the start of a wonderful new one. So it was time to end it well, and start it even better. She picked up her pace and exited the castle. It was hard to keep track of him, he'd been wearing all black. But she spotted his hair here and there and she made it through the crowd with an occasional "sorry" spoken softly to people she bumped past. She was about to holler at him when someone beat her to it. Literally.

Gwen watched in horror as Shane stepped backwards, the fist that had connected with his face still stretched out by a big-ass guy. Too shocked to say anything, she watched the scene unfold in front of her. And then her brain started thinking again. Shane had beat someone up? No, someone had beat someone else up? A muggle at that? And then Shane had beat him up? What, no, this was too confusing! Gwen didn't notice that she shook her head, but she did. She did notice the big-ass guy get ready to punch him again though, and her eyes flew to Shane. She rushed towards them, but in the midst of the rush, she changed her viewpoint. She was not rushing in there to stop the guy from beating up Shane. Gwen felt her heartrate speed up, both in thrill and fear, she suspected, because it was the other way around. Hopefully the guy would have the same stupid rule as every other guy to not beat a girl, because she knew that if she stepped in the middle of this fight and somehow managed to end it, she'd be saving the big-ass guy's ass, not Shane's.

"Stop!" Gwen had shouted it out and stood sideways, staring at the other guy. He looked shocked for a moment, but his face soon took on a whole handful of emotions, eventually landing on a disgusting mocking face, and his mouth opened. Gwen saw it coming before he said anything. He was a fucking sexist. Of course, it meant he wouldn't punch her, unless he was just a horrible person, in which case, anything goes. But the overall satisfied, mocking face was sometimes everything needed to aggravate someone. Gwen just really hoped it wouldn't work on Shane. "Hah, you need a girl to defend you?" Gwen's eyes instantly moved to Shane's face, pretty sure her face was begging him not to react badly.

This guy was not going to back down and Shane knew it, he needed to be ready for a fight thought could turn ugly if any kind of friends tried to jump in. The wolf inside him was growling and it was becoming very easily seen on his face. A boiling animalistic fury and pleasure was rising up inside him and as he coiled up ready to pounce he felt the shreds of his humanity start to break away faster.

"Stop!" Out of nowhere the beautiful brunette known as Gwen came flying between Shane and the idiot who thought he could challenge Shane and those he protected. He could smell panic and fear, the emotions magnifying as her eyes turned to him. Those brown orbs made contact with his and like someone hit a light switch he could feel the animal inside him start to back away and calm. He had seen her many times since that morning in the shrieking shake but hadn’t had the nerve to talk to her. She was someone he didn’t know well yet when he had the chance to erase her memory of all that had happened that night he had decided not to. In his book that was a BIG thing that meant she had planted herself into a part of his mind that he couldn’t exactly understand. She had bypassed his shields and dug deep into his brain. He couldn’t lie, he had thought about her a lot since then and only now, with her as close as she was, could he feel nerves start to appear through his mind.

He barely heard the snide comment from the big brutish idiot who had tried to start the fight. He got up from the position he had been in and walked over to Gwen, only looking at the other guy when he was close enough to offer her his hand.

“I see it like this dude. You’re the one who attacked me for trying to stop a fight that your mate had no business starting. I want to see you come at me like the coward your friend was.” The guy growled under his breath but did nothing. The people them seemed to think the fight was over so they began to leave. The effect and grand standing the guy wanted was gone and he could see the annoyance in his eyes. Good, the dumb ass didn’t deserve any kind attention anyways. After making sure that there was no real issue Shane looked down at Gwen and gave her his smooth, calm smirk, offering her his hand. “Are you heading down alone? Or would you like an escort?”
