Live the Magic
We are only as strong as we are united

THE INTERNATIONAL STATUTE OF TRANSPARENCY

"On this day, the thirteenth of June of the year two thousand and thirty four, in the spirit of honesty, safety and the equality of all mankind, the magical population and the non-magical population will no longer remain hidden from one another, but will be unified as one. Rather than withholding from one another, we today take a step toward a better future, as the union of two such extraordinary cultures and resources promises a betterment in quality of life for all. This statute applies to every living being that is capable of thinking and reasoning for itself. Either Discrimination or Deceptiveness in respect to the statute are both considered the highest form of noncompliance in all countries involved, and are punishable as treason. Every world leader, both magical and non-magical, have signed this statute in agreement that Transparency between the respective communities of the world is the best path toward knowledge and peace."

People of Britain would say that London never slept, that there was always something to do. This was true of muggle London. But not of Diagon Alley. The shops were closed. The streets lay bare of most. September had brought the falling of early autumn leaves, even if most of them had yet to lose their strong, green colour. There was the occasional drunkard or dubious character strolling along the normally busy street. But they were no bother to Morgana. They didn't bump into her, they didn't holler at each other, they barely made any noise.
This was the reason Morgana could be found in the streets of Diagon Alley at such a late hour. If it were any other time during the day, she stayed far away. The amount of people were enough to send shivers down her spine. But at this hour, the street was more than appealing to her. The architecture of the buildings had always fascinated her. She wouldn't often stay so late in London, though. Mostly, she'd be home by now, back in Winchester, but due to the new statute, there was ever more things to do, and she usually didn't leave work before late.
She knew she had to get some food now, though. However, the Leaky Cauldron was never silent. Never. There were times when it was more silent than other times, but there were always people there, and it would always fill up, and she would always have a neighbour. Maybe tonight, it'd be an interesting one, but Morgana was not holding her breath for that one. She turned her back to Gringotts, one of the most beautiful structured buildings she knew, and headed back up the street to its starting point, trying to enjoy the solitude while she could, ignoring any people who might lay eyes on her.
She had been right, though. The Leaky Cauldron was noisy. She was lucky however, it seemed like tonight wasn't the night to get drunk and shout happy words or start a brawl. So, Morgana found herself a nice, quiet corner, and ordered nachos, trying to settle into the noises, and then started studying people. There were a few married couples there, she saw. No kids, thankfully. Some of them were definitely upstairs, pretending to be asleep every time one of their parents checked on them, but really running about doing things they shouldn't.
Morgana discarded the thoughts and the focus she had on the people in the pub and took a long sip of her Guinness. She hadn't noticed how hungry she was before that point. The long hours took their toll on her, she couldn't deny that. And that was why she was absolutely miserable when a person walked over to her and asked if it was vacant.

Morgana is not the person who has friends, but that doesn't mean she doesn't need them. She will never be interested in a friend who takes her shopping or to pubs to check out boys or girls. But a smart person insistent on being her friend might eventually reach their goal. She would never actually call them a friend, but you'd notice the difference in behaviour when she starts respecting you. It is important to note that earning her respect is incredibly hard, and it's even harder to keep it. You disappoint her once, and she'll never give you a new opportunity.

Now this, this Morgana has a lot of. Enemies all around. Not necessarily from their perspective, but she sees them as such. There is no middle ground with Morgana. If she dislikes you, you're her enemy, easy as that. But since I absolutely love writing her with people she hates, I need these people for her! Of course, Morgana isn't the person who'd stick around talking to people she doesn't like, so it'd have to be a reason for her bothering to stay through the thread.

<div style="font-size: 15px; letter-spacing:-.5px; line-height: 80%;

Not a subject much interesting to Morgana, she has not had much experience with this. Though not at all against the notion of one night stands, I imagine Morgana to be sexually active, but not in any romantic form of any kind. I've always thought of her as bisexual, but aromantic. So one night's stand might happen, though you'd have to be interesting/intriguing to her. You'd probably not have her respect. She won't see you as anything but a means to an end. And she'll probably never talk to you/see you again. But if you are interested in casual, never happening again, this is the woman for you.

With wavy long black hair and hauntingly green eyes, Morgana comes across as a threatening character with a "no bullshit" attitude. She is rarely found in coloured clothes and at work she wears classic black robes, and sometimes she is found wearing black, smart trousers and a white shirt, depending on what she's doing during her workday. Outside of work, she usually wears a smart attire, though much more casual than work. She usually focuses on comfort and wears presentable clothes, even if she doesn't care what people think of her. Morgana holds herself in a certain manner, and easily comes off as a stiff person, her chin always parallell with the floor. She usually looks very bored, and she usually is as well, when she's talking to people. Or people are talking at her. Despite her hostile character, she is eerily beautiful, a trait that she inherited from her great-grandmother, combined with the general hollow look from the Gaunt family.

Personality

Morgana is not a nice person. She does not treat people with respect unless they prove that they're worthy of it. She grew up with a legacy that earned her skeptical looks and whispers behind her back, which resulted in a woman who does not give normal people her time of day. If you somehow corner her, her bluntness will probably send you off. Morgana does not sugarcoat anything, and she rarely has anything nice to say, as people annoy her more than is fairly justified. This is a trait from the Gaunt family. She believes that people are too vulnerable, and that if they can't take the truth of what they're saying, then they shouldn't speak at all. So she only respects the people who can take what she says. She doesn't like anyone, though. There are exceptions, like the people she met in her first and second year of Hogwarts, but if you didn't meet her then, chances are she'll never like you. Morgana is highly intelligent. Not necessarily when it comes to mathematics or ancient runes, but she is extremely perceptive, which she inherited from her father. She can easily tell people what they do for a living, she knows what they're thinking without using legilimens (which she happens to be very bad at, though her occlumency is impeccable), and she quickly finds out if you're worth her time or not.

History

Morgana was born in August 2013 to her father, Mordred. Her mother, Karen, died in childbirth so her father took sole custody over her. They moved to a cottage in Winchester, and Mordred got a job at a local wizarding artefacts shop. Karen's parents, Morgana's grandparents, stayed at a house nearby them for the first two years, but when they saw that Mordred didn't want them helping out so much anymore, they moved back to their hometown, with the promise of always being available if needed. Mordred never asked them for help again. He placed Morgana in a kindergarten and took on a nine to five job. Morgana was a very talkative kid, but she rarely whined or cried. She'd fight Mordred on occasions to be allowed the food she wanted, but mostly, her talking was restricted to things she didn't know what was. And she'd never stop asking until she understood. But her talking slowly died down as the years went by, and when she was eight years old, she rarely opened her mouth unless she had something important she wanted to share. Mordred, thinking the kids in her school were bullying her, took action and found out that the kids weren't the ones he needed to concern himself with, but rather the teachers. As he prodded Morgana for answers, she eventually shrugged and told him that she knew too much about the teachers and their personal affairs to show them even a slight bit of respect, which had created a tension that often resulted in her being put in detention.
She'd shown her magical abilities at around that age, but Mordred had taken her to a zoo when she was six, and he'd seen her talk to the snakes. When she was nine, she asked to buy a pet snake. Mordred, not one to deny Morgana much at all, got them a green mamba and refurnished the second floor of their home into something resembling a rainforest. She spent a lot of time in that warm room, talking to the snake that she eventually named Dante. Morgana didn't do very well in her school, mostly because she didn't see the point of being able to calculate 739x425 in her head when there was such a thing as a calculator. She didn't see the importance of knowing how the earth was made up of different layers of magma and minerals, she didn't see how it influenced her life. But history was the subject she really understood. Her interest in the subject drove her to find out more about her own history, and though she knew about her heritage of Slytherin, she had not known that she was related to Lord Voldemort. His uncle was her great grandfather. And when she found out, she had expected it to repulse her, but while waiting for that emotion to surface, she'd been shocked to discover how intriguing and, frankly, quite amazing her lineage was. She never told Mordred, however, because she knew he'd disapprove, and his approval meant the world to her.
When Morgana got her letter to Hogwarts, neither she nor Mordred were surprised. They instantly travelled to London, shopping for all her necessary items in Diagon Alley, and venturing into Knockturn Alley for a spin. That was one thing that was great with having a slightly sociopathic father; he just didn't see the danger with Knockturn Alley. And neither did Morgana. It had surprised her how much it had sucked to say goodbye to her father when they were at the platform, but when she sat in the compartment and watched the landscapes change and rush by, Morgana found that solitude was never really unwanted to her. She had enjoyed the trip immensely, but the sight of Hogwarts had whisked the thoughts away. The castle was absolutely beautiful, and she hadn't been able to keep a pang of pride away when she thought about the fact that her ancestor had been a part of its construction. She was looking forward to exploring the castle. But first the sorting. It came as no surprise to her when she was sorted into Slytherin. She was welcomed to her designated table, but though she let a couple of smiles shine through, she probably didn't strike people as the friendliest of people, though they might blame it on nerves.
But thus, her first year started. She thoroughly enjoyed most of the subjects, especially potions and herbology. She quickly proved to herself that she was more than decent with a wand as well, and since she didn't spend much time in her spare time talking with her fellow students, she practiced more than most her own year, and she learnt most of her spells fairly quickly. She did meet a few people that she didn't mind talking to, like James Riddle and Aylee Walters. She also got fairly well along with Lucy Malfoy, but she didn't get to talk to her much in her first year. Most of the year was uneventful, though. She stuck to her studies. The forest did tempt her on several occasions, but there were a few of the professors who were strict enough to take them on simply looking in the wrong direction.
Her second year started out just as peaceful as her first year. She'd spent a quiet, comfortable summer in Winchester with her father, who had gotten a solid job in the Ministry of Magic. She met a couple of new people some of whom she liked, like Maya Winchester, and some of whom she despised, like Wade Malfoy. The fact that he was Lucy's cousin was completely unfathomable. She got more acquainted with Lucy and easily came to the decision that the girl was more than worthy of her respect. She took on more time to be with friends, but she also came to the realisation that friendship was not what people made it seem to be. She continued working hard on her studies, and tried to get into the business of reading into her family legacy, but Mordred wouldn't let her take the Gaunt diary, and she couldn't find any books in the library that told her anything. This year, however, no professors could stop her from sitting outside the forest, and she'd met a snake, Ryland Malfoy and Auden Mayer. She'd also been subtracted 50 points from Slytherin for being too close to the forest, something that had annoyed her immensely, because she hadn't actually broken any rules. Technically.
Her years at Hogwarts seemed to pass in a blur after that. She grew much more distant over the next few years, studying on her own or working at Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour in Hogsmeade. She didn't really enjoy the work, but she came across some interesting people there. She also enjoyed looking at the customers, reading their faces, their clothes, their life in how they sat and ate the ice cream. She'd spent days doing less productive things. She also grew colder over the years. Her interest in the Gaunt diary back in Winchester continued to amplify and she read it whenever she knew she'd be alone. Dark arts also started to draw her in and she no longer started up conversations with people, even if it was Lucy. She helped Lucy out a few times, especially with Ryland once on a fullmoon, and a kid by the name of Hunter Vanderberg that she'd met in her fourth year. It had been an interesting day to say the least. A small kid, he meant nothing to her, and she assumed she'd never meet him again. One of the few times she was wrong. No, because Hunter was Aoife O'Donnell's friend, her co-worker in Hogsmeade. And Aoife, the most bothersome person Morgana had ever met, and whom no one would ever expect Morgana to get along with, got on her good side. And when madness ensued between sappy lovey-dovey teenagers, Morgana was smack down in the middle of it. And she disliked them for that, but she also found that she got strangely protective over the redheaded girl. And that's when she knew that she wasn't quite so lost as she believed herself to be. Not that she had any issues with that.
Her sixth year was her greatest trial, though. That was when she met Tor Odin Gunnarson, a seventh year transfer student from Durmstrang who instantly took a liking to Morgana. Her annoyance with him was only elevated due to the lack of Wade Malfoy at the school. Unfortunately that also meant that sane minds like Lucy's were out of the equation. So she had to find her peace somewhere Tor Odin was nowhere near. She often found herself in the girls' dormitory, but she shared that with Elita, and she found it rather hard to work in her bed. So she'd spend a lot of time in the library during her sixth and seventh year, and she also took refuge in the Gamekeeper's Hut on occasion. Her last year went to completely focusing on her studies and she paid no attention to the people around her. She ended the year with all O's for her NEWTs, and got a spot for a 3 people apprenticeship over the summer to see who'd be the next junior secretary to the minister.
She'd never worked harder than she did that summer. She didn't necessarily bring the word 'team' into the work, but she proved that she didn't as much as twitch under pressure and she easily showed how committed she could be to a job. So at the end of the two months, she was hired as the junior secretary. She still lived in Winchester with Mordred, there was no reason as to why she should have to leave her hometown for the job in London. Covering distance wasn't really a problem to the wizarding world. She stayed working for the ministry for the next few years, and she found it highly interesting, especially when things started to change. Being as high up as she was, and as it was five three years down the road since she'd started working, Morgana was included in most of the things happening before many others were. She had never really imagined that the muggle world was so fed up with being kept in the dark, and she couldn't help but admire all the people that came together to get the Statute of Transparency through. Morgana doesn't really know where she stands with the statute, but as it has only just been enforced, she is certain she'll be more than flooded in paperwork, complaints and all sorts of things that'll make her dislike it.
