We are only as strong as we are united

THE INTERNATIONAL STATUTE OF TRANSPARENCY

"On this day, the thirteenth of June of the year two thousand and thirty four, in the spirit of honesty, safety and the equality of all mankind, the magical population and the non-magical population will no longer remain hidden from one another, but will be unified as one. Rather than withholding from one another, we today take a step toward a better future, as the union of two such extraordinary cultures and resources promises a betterment in quality of life for all. This statute applies to every living being that is capable of thinking and reasoning for itself. Either Discrimination or Deceptiveness in respect to the statute are both considered the highest form of noncompliance in all countries involved, and are punishable as treason. Every world leader, both magical and non-magical, have signed this statute in agreement that Transparency between the respective communities of the world is the best path toward knowledge and peace."

Shane laid across a plush filled chair and looked up at the ceiling of the Hufflepuff common room. He had just woken up from a nap and was feeling to comfortable to get up at that moment. Late nights in the winter were not his thing at all and today was what that looked like. He was tired, stressed and ready to just relax. However that did seem to be in the cards, mostly do to the fact that it was also the end up classes and people were coming in in droves. If they weren’t talking in the common room then they were making there way to the different dorms talking. He was slightly annoyed by all the noise, but he couldn’t exactly be to angry. How were any of these people really supposed to know that he was… WHACK!!

Shane shot up and looked around to see one of his fellow Hufflepuffs slamming books down on the table in succession, without even seemingly considering the amount of noise they were making. “Hey! How about you not piss on everyone in here with your bullshit frustration and either take it out on your bed or stop with the loud shit.” The guys face went red as he wiped around to see who had said it. When he made eye contact with Shane the other seemed to fizzle in anger almost immediately. Shane had a bit of a reputation of being a good guy, he knew it. However, he also knew that there was another reputation he had. They called it the “American attitude”. He could be wild and unruly. He could be unpredictable and sometimes be a bit out spoken. It wasn’t really a bad thing. Just seemed like something most found shocking at times. When it got really bad he knew his wolf side would come out. Not many had seen that side of him, the ones who had had gotten they’re ass’s kicked and he had spent some time in some major detentions. Those who had seen that side were mostly people who had messed with people who hadn’t done much to anyone but be themselves. He was not the kind of person to let others push people around. Even though this was his reasoning, people still remembered his calm ferocity more. So when this guy looked at Shane and turned white, picking up his books quickly and immediately leaving the room, Shane found himself feeling like he was an ass hole. He tried to get up and fallow the guy, calling out words of apology, yet they seemed to fall on deaf ears.

“Great…..thats not what I meant to do…” Shane sighed and walked back to his seat, falling into it and covering his face with a groan. What a great damn day.

Her frustration with the noise level grew steadily higher, as the rowdy boys continued their antics. However, Jessie was able to easily ignore it and keep her cool. However, the same could not be said for another, across the room. Not quick enough, the book-slammers were hushed up by what appeared to be a rather grumpy 6th year. He seemed so terribly frustrated. Maybe he needed some cheering up.

Not one to back down from a crabby person, she poked her head up at him and shot him a quick praising. "Well, at least you managed to shut them up. Are you sure you belong in Hufflepuff? I could have sworn you were Slytherin, from the tone of your voice. Not that they are all bad. But you get the gist. Nice to meet you by the way. I'm Jessie Meadows. Sixth year, rising Hit-Witch. Well, hopefully." As she carelessly babbled about herself, the little 'puff made her way to the couch, plopped down in a chair beside the grump, and offered her hand for a shake.

No, she didn't know him at all. Had that ever stopped her before? No. Would it stop her now? Definitely not. Here's to making new friends.

NOTES: November

Shane at first tried to ignore her as he covered his face, but it didn’t take long before he started to realize she wasn’t going anywhere. His hands slipped from his face and he focused his eyes on her, regarding her for a moment or two. She had asked his name, and had seemingly decided that talking a bit about herself would bait him into talking about himself maybe. Was it all that bad of a thing to indulge her? Maybe not, but would he.

“The names Shane.” He sat up a bit so he could get a good look at her and whipped his face since he also was realizing that he still had a bit of sleep in his eyes. He sniffed the air and caught the scents of everyone in the room. Some were stronger then others, some wore perfumes or colognes, then there were smells of emotions and plants. All of which he could pick up on and focus if he wanted to. That might be rude though, since this girl had decided this was a good time to introduce herself to him. “I’m a six year to. And occupation of choice? Don’t know exactly. I kind of have just been shocked I have made it this far.” He gave a sheepish smirk before squinting at her a moment and yawning. He was careful while doing this. He kept his lips covering his teeth, which was a bit uncomfortable but needed. The last thing he wanted was this chick getting a nice look at his sharp teeth.
