We are only as strong as we are united

THE INTERNATIONAL STATUTE OF TRANSPARENCY

"On this day, the thirteenth of June of the year two thousand and thirty four, in the spirit of honesty, safety and the equality of all mankind, the magical population and the non-magical population will no longer remain hidden from one another, but will be unified as one. Rather than withholding from one another, we today take a step toward a better future, as the union of two such extraordinary cultures and resources promises a betterment in quality of life for all. This statute applies to every living being that is capable of thinking and reasoning for itself. Either Discrimination or Deceptiveness in respect to the statute are both considered the highest form of noncompliance in all countries involved, and are punishable as treason. Every world leader, both magical and non-magical, have signed this statute in agreement that Transparency between the respective communities of the world is the best path toward knowledge and peace."

Shane took a sharp breath as he stumbled out of the Forbidden Forest. His robes were ripped to hell and he could still feel his body trying to mend himself as he walked. Normally he would have waited, tried to stay still so he could make it easier on himself and his body. Yet this wasn’t the right time to do something like that, no, he was in to bad of a situation for something like that. He had forgotten his wolfsbane potion the day before and he was to terrified of what he had done because of such an idiot move. Could he had killed someone? Something special? He had found himself slammed against a tree covered in blood and blood staining the snow around him. There had been way to much blood for it to be all his and way to much for whatever he had fought to have survived. He hadn’t seen a body, but that meant little.

Shane growled at himself at the thought of his wolf self taking care of any kind of…..thing, he had killed. He couldn’t think about that right now. He was to messed up physically for him to allow regret and self anger to seep into his mental wounds. So instead of thinking he limped forward. His pants ripped to shreds in the lower legs, his shirt in tatters and his skin not much better. Luckily the skin was easily fixed, hell it was doing it right now, but the rest would draw suspicion. Maybe he would make his way to the old hut that used to belong to the games keeper. No one lived there currently because they hadn’t replaced the position yet. It would be the only sensible place for now. He would get there and maybe find away to fix up his clothes as best he could so he could sneak to the Hufflepuff common room and get changed, spend the rest of the day like nothing ever happened? Maybe even see Gwen….o, yeah that actually sounded perfect.

With the thought of Gwen in his mind he made his way to the hut, finally making it there in twice the time it would normally had taken, he threw the door open and stepped in, collapsing on a chair covered in cobwebs in front of an empty hearth. Did he dare light a fire? It could attract unwanted attention, something he didn’t need. The headmaster needed to be notified about his little incident, but the last thing he needed was one of the professors coming down thinking he was a bunch of students sneaking out.

“What a day Shane. You freaking idiot.”
His words came out in a whisper as he leaned back in the chair and let out a sigh of relief. It might not had been warm in the place, but it was atleast safe, safe and somewhere solid he could relax and think. Gawd he needed to start thinking more. He needed to be a better person instead of constantly fighting with this issue he had. If he wanted Gwen so bad then he needed to do better. The muggle girl was way to good for him and he needed to start acting like he deserved her. Then of course there was all of this. Could she handle his secret? He was, of course, one off the many secrets of the school. If the students knew….well….yeah…..

Gwen is a muggle, and was brought up on a farm. She was homeschooled, but she did have friends in a nearby village. Mostly, though, she spent her time playing with her brothers, Jack and Hunter, and her younger sister Grace. Then Jack was killed. And shit happened. And she applied for Hogwarts when the statute was passed, having heard so much about Hogwarts from her brother.

@Shane Rogers. hope you enjoy!
i saw the light fade from the
sky
December had brought on a new kind of breeze that made Gwen grin when she woke up in the mornings. At the farm, winter had been her best season, not because she loved the cold, but because the air was so crisp and clean. And it didn't leave room for being tired. Even waking up at 5 and 6am had its downsides, but in winter, they vanished, because once you were out of bed, there was no desire to go back. And this morning was no different. When Gwen's eyes opened, she peaked around her curtains and saw that no one seemed to be up yet. She automatically looked at the clock on her bedside table, and she instantly knew why; it was only 5am. She usually didn't wake up this early herself, not anymore. She could stay in bed as late as 7:30 now! A feat she was -embarrassingly- proud of.

But as mentioned, in winter, there was no going back to sleep for Gwen now, so she got out of bed and took on some warm clothes, before leaving the dormitory behind; snow had arrived at Hogwarts, and Gwen would be damned if she didn't enjoy it while it lasted. Her already good mood only improved as she noticed that the snow had doubled from yesterday. She looked at the newly fallen snow, and then plowed through it, making as many new trails as she could, wondering if it would still be like that when people went outside in the morning themselves, or if new snow would be covering it. Keeping this up for only ten minutes was exhausting, and she could feel her feet getting wet. But she didn't want to go inside, so it was an easy decision to make to find her way to the Gamekeeper's Hut.

Hunter had told her about the hut a few times before, and she'd seen it once before, and it was pretty cool and cosy. She found herself outside the door in a matter of minutes, and when she opened the door, she froze. And it had nothing to do with the cold weather. Two things registered in her mind. Shane. And blood. She heard herself gasp, feeling a bit detached from her own body, as if looking at herself from a distance. Shock ran through her, but it went so slowly, she could feel it travelling from her head to her pounding heart to her fingertips and to her toes. And then everything sped up to a point that Gwen didn't know what had happened before it had. She was kneeling next to Shane studying him closely. As she realised what she was doing, she stopped, leaning a bit further from him, but managed to keep her face only conveying worry. "Are you hurt?" she finally asked, but her worry was starting to turn into a nauseating feeling, and she found herself worrying that he was perfectly fine, but something -or someone- else was not.

Shane heard the door but was to stiff and cold to move quickly enough to intercept the intruder. If it was a teacher, then he could easily explain by saying he needed to see the headmaster. If it was a student…well a quick move of his wand and they wouldn’t remember that they came down to the hut. What he hadn’t expected was to see those breath taking eyes so full of worry, that he had grown so fond of. He really wasn’t expecting the look she gave him a she quickly moved forward and knelt next to him, asking if he was alright. Some one would say that her words spoke of worry for him. Yet as he looked into those eyes, he saw something different. He saw that she wasn’t worried about him, no she knew better then to worry about him being hurt. She had seen him heal pretty quickly. What she was worried about was the blood….and whose it was.

“Umm…..I can explain…well….kind of….” Not that he really wanted to….okay he might have, but at that moment he seriously considered messing with her memory. The situation infront of him was not one he had wanted in any shape or form. IT was one that he was actually fearing would happen eventually, but was not ready for at that moment. She knew there was something different about him, it was easy to tell and obvious after the first time they met. You don’t just find a guy naked and as fucked up as he was in the Shreaking shack and shrug it off. Something was off about him and Shane read it in her eyes every time they saw each other. This however, right here, was probably where she was going to find out what….and he was not ready for that.

He tried to meet her eyes but found that when he tried all the fake explanations seemed to drain from him. He couldn’t lie to her, not with those eyes, not with that knowing look, and especially not with the fact that he was growing increasingly fond of her as every day moved on. He couldn’t lie, no matter how hard he tried. What else could he do? Shane shook his head, sighing and closed his eyes, trying to say what he needed to say without making eye contact with her. This was one of those moments where he either lost someone or he would gain someone close for a very long time….and possibly hurt in the end. The very idea pained him, yet he was willing to take the fifty-fifty risk. Why? Cause he was a fucking idiot.

“I……I think you already know….” He opened his eyes and looked Gwen straight in hers, steeling himself for whatever came next.
