"On this day, the thirteenth of June of the year two thousand and thirty four, in the spirit of honesty, safety and the equality of all mankind, the magical population and the non-magical population will no longer remain hidden from one another, but will be unified as one. Rather than withholding from one another, we today take a step toward a better future, as the union of two such extraordinary cultures and resources promises a betterment in quality of life for all. This statute applies to every living being that is capable of thinking and reasoning for itself. Either Discrimination or Deceptiveness in respect to the statute are both considered the highest form of noncompliance in all countries involved, and are punishable as treason. Every world leader, both magical and non-magical, have signed this statute in agreement that Transparency between the respective communities of the world is the best path toward knowledge and peace."

Rules And Information


Welcome to Live the Magic! We are a post-potter RPG, founded in 2012. Our site revolves around a future in which wizards have been pulled out of secrecy, and the magical and muggle worlds have been forced to combine. If you haven't already, please take a look at our Plot thread to learn more, and to understand the rules in context! We appreciate you taking the time to read our rules before getting started, and are so glad that you've chosen to join us!

Registration
1. Members must be age 15 or older to register!

2. Please read our rules in their entirety, as well as our Site Plot, before joining our site.

3. We are an account per character board. Please create a separate account for each character using their first and last name.

4. You are also permitted to create one out of character account using your Alias if you choose, under which you may link your individual characters. If you need help linking sub-accounts, please ask an admin for help.

Character Creation
1. Only original characters are accepted. Canon characters are not permitted, however, descendents of cannon families are permitted, provided you reference the appropriate family claims list first.

2. Please reference our Registration Info thread before filling out a character application. This thread contains important information concerning what types of characters we are currently accepting, as well as general statistical information for you to take into consideration when writing your application.

3. You may create up to two "free" characters, one of which must be a student.

4. Each character afterwards will require 25 IC posts with all existing characters before acceptance.

5. When you have completed an application, please title it with your character's name (LAST, FIRST) and tag it as "complete." At this point, an admin will review and sort your application shortly. If your application is pended, you will have seven days to make any necessary changes.

6. If you are unable to complete your application in one sitting, please tag it "WIP". We will hold uncompleted applications for fourteen days before archiving them. If your application is archived and you would like to access it, please ask an admin to retrieve it for you.

7. There is no character limit, but we do ask that you do not create more characters than your free time allows. We reserve the right to delete or freeze characters that become inactive (see the activity section below)

Graphics and Claims
1. Once your character has been accepted, please visit our claims forum immediately to post your claims for that character. You must post in all required claims before joining any in character sections of the site.

2. Face claims must be a recognizable celebrity (somebody that can easily be googled). Actors, models, musicians, etc. are all acceptable. You may not use a personal photo of yourself or somebody else.

3. You may reserve a face claim for up to fourteen days. You may re-reserve once, in the instance that your application is pended for longer than the reservation period.

4. Avatars must be 250X350 pixels in size. Signatures are permitted, but they may not stretch the board. Please be sure to fill out all fields of your character's mini profile in a timely manner after your character is accepted.

Activity
1. While we don't expect you to post every day, we ask that members try to post with each of their characters at least once per week. While we won't penalize anyone for missing a week with a character here or there, we will be looking to see that everyone is making an effort with every character they've created, and if it seems that a character has been neglected consistently, that character will be labeled inactive.

2. We understand that things happen in real life that might take away from your free time. If something happens that will cause you to temporarily fall short of our activity standard, we just ask that you let us know in our Absence forum. Failure to post an absence could result in the freezing or deletion of a character.

3. Please do your best to reply as promptly as possible, but also do your best to understand if you don't receive a reply within the next day or so.

4. If you create a character listed in a wanted ad, be sure that you can meet the requested activity level for that character! Someone who posts every day may not want someone who only posts once per week to take on their character's significant other. Be considerate of other people's preferences.

5. Please, do not create more characters than you are capable of remaining active with!! It is better for the community as a whole for you to post actively with one character, than to neglect four or five characters.

Roleplaying
1. In character time progresses at half-speed. This means that six months in real time is equal to one in character year.

2. Godmodding - controlling somebody else's character through your own writing - is not allowed. If you have explicit permission from another member to godmod their character, be sure to indicate that in your post.

3. We have a minimum word count of 200 words for all in character posts. Beyond this, please make a conscious effort to reply with the same amount of detail as the person who started the thread. If someone has started an open thread with a 700 word post, make an effort to respond with a similar-length reply.. Likewise, someone prefers to write less, make an effort to match their shorter length. This gives everyone a chance to post both within and outside of their comfort zone.

4. Please make sure that all posts are written primarily in English, with correct grammar.

5. Please strive for realism in your writing. Use common sense when determining the time, setting and content of your posts. A student at Hogwarts wouldn't be shopping in London during the school year unless they were on break. Students below third year wouldn't be in Hogsmeade, unless they were sneaking in. A first year student would be unable to produce a corporeal patronus charm. If we come across a thread that is severely out of place, you will be asked to edit it.

Behavior and Conduct
1. Our forum rating is L2-S2-V2 according to the RPG rating system. This means that we allow most swearing and adult language, that sexual content is permitted but must not be described explicitly, and that explicit - but not overly extreme - violence is permitted. If your thread is likely to contain any type of content not suitable for younger members, please tag it as mature. Be aware that even mature-tagged threads must comply with the general site rating. Please be sure that your characters are participating in more mature themes at appropriate ages.

2. Any threads involving thoughts of suicide, drug use, rape, incest, abuse, or other controversial topics must be marked with a trigger warning, and must be agreed upon in advance by all members partaking in the thread. If you are unsure whether or not a subject is suitable and within the site rating, please ask an admin before moving forward with your plot.

3. Please be kind and respectful to all members and staff. Any type of bullying or discrimination will not be tolerated. If you have an issue or concern with another member, please contact an admin. Do not attempt to fix the situation yourself.

4. Do not bump or spam threads, or the chatbox. Advertisements should only be posted in the Affiliates forum, and if you think somebody has forgotten to reply to you, a polite PM reminding them is acceptable.
